Overnight Water Balance Test:
KDHE design standards require seepage testing to be conducted on any new, expanding, or recently cleaned livestock waste lagoons. One accepted method of testing the seepage rate is using the overnight water balance test developed at Kansas State University by Dr. Jay Ham. The overnight water balance test uses site-specific meteorological data to accurately measure the difference between evaporation and the lagoon’s change in depth. One advantage of using this method is that the lagoon does not need to be dewatered or de-sludged. Additionally, wastewater inputs need only to be halted for a single night while the test is conducted. SEC has the equipment and expertise to conduct the overnight water balance test, and we currently offer this service to our clients.

Compliance Assistance:
If a facility receives an Administrative Order from KDHE or EPA, we can assist with regaining compliance and working through this process.

Record Keeping:
We offer assistance with monthly and annual Operational Reports.

Water Rights:
We offer assistance with obtaining water rights from Division Water Resources.

Federal and State Cost Share Program Assistance:
We assist with applying for state or federal cost share assistance (state cost-share programs or EQIP through NRCS)

• We complete facility evaluations for KDHE compliance. This includes an onsite visit as well as a KDHE file review.
• We can complete an On-site inspection/audit of your facility.
• We can help you minimize your risk by assisting with a KDHE file review and development of a report of compliance issues for any facility being purchased or sold.
• We assist facilities that have received an out of compliance inspection report from KDHE or EPA.
